“If you think about it seriously, all the questions about the soul and the immortality of the soul and paradise and hell are at bottom only a way of seeing this very simple fact: that every action of ours is passed on to others according to its value, of good or evil, it passes from father to son, from one generation to the next, in a perpetual movement.“

~Antonio Gramsci, (1931) Letter From Prison to his Mother.

On This Day   September 1 in history

Muammar Gaddafi came to power in Libya in September 1969 as the leader of a bloodless military coup which overthrew the US-British puppet king Idris. The vast majority of Libyan citizens welcomed the change — neither resistance nor deaths or casualties were reported during or after the action.

Origin of “Oyibo”

ukpuru:

nkwobi-naka:

This is the commonly used word for a “white man” within the southern parts of Nigeria. Though I am biased, the origin of the word from the Igbo language sounds much more plausible. “Onye” is used as a prefix attached to the place of an individual’s origin. Therefore, an Igbo person would be referred to as “Onye Igbo”. The site of origin of “white foreigners” were not known when they arrived initially. They were likely to have been referred to as “Onye Ocha” - the literal interpretation for a “white person”. However, due to the absence of double lettered alphabets such as “gb” and “ny” foreigners referred to Igbo people as “Oyi Ibo” (note that Igbo as was passed down through oral tradition, and was not written). “Oyibo” was then used as term to represent “white people”, possibly initiating as a form of mockery (in response to the inability of foreigners to repeat the term “Onye Igbo”.

Some of us suggest that the term Igbo is an exonym for many communities that are regarded as ‘Igbo’ today, it’s likely that Igbo was referred to and spread about by the Aro communities who rose to immense prominence in the area after the 17th century. Olaudah Equiano, for instance, referred to “stout mahogany-coloured men from the south west of us: we call them Oye-Eboe, which term signifies red men living at a distance.” It’s likely these were Aro people, possibly referred to as ‘Igbo’, hence onye Igbo = Oyibo. I think Onye ocha is a neologism borrowing and transliterating the racialised ‘white’ in English, bèké and oyibo are the more accurate terms for foreigner, westerners, and so on, especially when bèké didn’t necessarily mean ‘white’ in the racial sense, but ‘extreme foreignness’ which was heightened by ‘white’ skin, which is probably why we use onye ocha interchangeably for people who aren’t ‘white’ like Arabs, Indians, and maybe even some Africans.

Balancing Energies- Twin Flame Perspective

ethrealconsciousness:

Balance is important in all aspects of life and spirituality. The twin flame is the achievement of perfect balance, within the entirety of a being. This means, in all aspects of life, in which your life force is shared to manage the created foundation, and also matching that to the balanced polarity of you. I’ll elaborate on this subject more so in a moment, but first please take a moment to…
